I had my first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine last Thursday after holding off for sometime since I was waiting to get Pfizer instead. However, after some convincing from my husband, I registered myself for the vaccine last Sunday. Since most of those who registered themselves for the vaccine had got their jabs, my husband included, they have more stocks, the Hungarian govt made it an option that anyone can get an appointment directly and also choose the vaccine station. I chose the one closest to home of course.
I am not sure how they do it anywhere else but the place where I had the jab, is cardiology clinic. I had an appointment at 10.21 am but arrived about 15 minutes earlier. We had to line up to hand in a form that we had to fill up. They took the paper and registered our arrival and asked us to wait. They call us in groups of 5.
After being called again we had to wait for them register and provide a small piece of paper with the batch number and the date for the second dose. Once I got this paper, I was called in to get the jab. All done in 10 minutes or so. After the injection we were asked to wait in a designated waiting room for about 15 minute. I was reading all the symptoms that I had to be looking out for. 😀
15 mins went by and I left the clinic. My dear husband was waiting patiently for me outside.
I didn’t feel any side effects until much later. We had our usual evening walk and once I got home, I just felt the chills all over. From then on it started. The slight fever, joint aches, head aches. My left arm where I got the jab felt slightly swollen and sore. I couldn’t sleep a wink until 4 or 5 a.m. I decided to take some medicine – Neocitrán, which contains paracetamol. I read that we are supposed to avoid ibuprofen based meds. I fell asleep till 10 in the morning. Feeling somewhat better. Replied some emails for work and went back to bed.
Took me about 1 day to recover from the vaccination. But right now I am feeling quite well. The next dose will be on the 29th of July at the same place. I don’t think I am looking forward to it but I do want to get it over with.
